If you live in Carteret County NC, you likely already know that Walmart has home delivery and pickup at the store services for most things in their inventory. Download their mobile app today and check out their offerings for store pickup or delivery.
According to the Instacart website, they offer same day delivery for the following stores now in Morehead City NC but have plans to expand: 1) Lowes Foods 2) Food Lion & 3) CVS. However, if you do not need same day delivery, you can opt for service to your home as far out as 5 days.
To get started, simply search the Android and Apple store on your smartphone and search “Instacart”, download their mobile app, and create an account. After doing this, pick your local store from the list of options and supply a payment method and begin shopping!
Once your order is received, a local partner with Instacart will begin shopping for the items you requested and hand delivery them to your home. Online providers of this service like to call this on-demand shopping and from the sounds of it, it truly is.
According to their website, the cost to use Instacart is $5.99 for all orders over $35, but shortly you will be able to get an express membership with them and pay $14.99 per month for unlimited same day delivery to your home after a free trial period.
We did notice that the Morehead City Lowes Foods in Carteret County NC has their own online shopping experience but we are not sure if that is just for store pickup or delivery and there is no word on whether this new service will take over that opportunity. Perhaps our readers will use the comment section below to tell us.
Questions For Discussion
While we have the mobile app installed, we have not actually tried the service and have plans to do so later this week. But here are some initial questions we have about online shopping.
What is the process for when you order items and you forget that you need to add something or change something and the online shopper has already begun putting together your order? Can you change it in the app, or do they offer the customer a way to call the shopper?
What is the process for becoming a shopper? Are the people that accept orders and deliver Instacart employees or contractors like Uber and Lyft uses? For safety purposes, do the people taking and putting orders together get some type of background criminal record check?
How do you go about applying for these jobs or to become a contractor?
What other questions do you have? If you are a resident in Carteret County, Morehead City, Beaufort, or Newport, do you foresee using this kind of local delivery service for groceries and other consumer goods?
