In the past I have visited these grounds during the day and just walking through it made the hair on the back of my head stand up.

While we are in Beaufort, it should be noted that this community is NC’s third oldest city and has an extensive history of homes and history going back to the early 1700s. With that, there are many ghost walk tours available in the community and the Old Burying Ground is one of the stops.

Fort Macon In Atlantic Beach NC

This historical attraction was built in 1826 and served as a fort to protect our community from Blackbeard the pirate and has it’s roots in the Civil War.

Because of Fort Macon’s war history, it would be a good place to investigate or research. Past employees of the park swear there are weird things that happen inside the fort’s walls, and there are books in the gift shop that can direct you to it’s history.

Unfortunately, these grounds are owned by the NC Parks service and is not open at night.
