Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue, NC
Outlying landing field located between Cape Carteret and Newport on Hwy 24 that is used by the USMC for Harrier landing training.
Outlying Field (MCOLF) in Atlantic, NC
Small outlying airfield under the control of the USMC and used for training. Located in Atlantic, NC
Camp Lejeune – Home of the II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Logistics Group and other combat units and support commands
While not located in Carteret County, Camp Lejeune is a very large U.S. Marine Corps base in Jacksonville NC that employs a large amount of local residents as military contractors and support staff. Many military service women and men live in Carteret County.
Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point
Again, while not located in Carteret County, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point is a moderate sized air base in Havelock NC (Eastern NC) that employs many residents in support positions and contractor positions at NADEP. MCAS Cherry Point has deep roots in the county.

The Coast Guard Station at the easternmost part of Bogue Banks and Atlantic Beach is responsible for protecting coastal waters, search and rescue operations, and enforcement. This base is very active logistically and strategically.

The Port In Morehead City
The port in Morehead City NC and Radio Island is used by the military in Eastern NC for rapid deployment and sea operations off the Carteret coast.
