Carteret County Schools Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson announced that local schools will revert back to virtual learning for students and staff on January 18th and 19th out of an abundance of caution and in thinking about the safety of staff and students.
Dr. Jackson noted the decision to institute remote learning is due to the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Administrators stated that on January 20th, students and staff can return to in-school learning, but the the board of education will be monitoring case numbers and directives from the State of NC Department of Health And Human Services (NCDHHS) and local health department.
Dr. Ron Jackson did not say whether students and staff will be required to wear mandatory masks upon returning on the 20th.
