(September 2019) Forestry officials have announced that the Croatan National Forest will be closed temporarily in anticipation of the tropical system expected to affect the area later this week in to early next week.

Officials say that all campgrounds, recreation areas, and roads in the Croatan will close at noon on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

Additionally, the ranger station on Highway 70 will be closed starting at 4:30 on Tuesday.

Officials say that the National Forest will reopen only after rangers have inspected the area and deem the area to be safe for camping, travel, and recreation.
