The Atlantic Beach King Mackerel Saltwater Slam tournament and Cape Lookout Albacore and Redfish Festival are definitely a good fit.

While the Big Rock is certainly the most well known in Carteret County, there are many local fishing tournaments locally in Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, and Morehead City for all ages and experience of the angler. There are many that benefit local charities and medical research too.

I think it is becoming more well known that Eastern NC is a mecca for fishing given how the coastline is formed and where it sits to the gulf stream.

I personally know of people that literally travel from around the world to come to the Crystal Coast to fish many of the highly experienced charter boats.

If you ever get the chance to visit this area and you love to get out on the water this is a fine place to do it.
