This town is one of five on Bogue Banks with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Bogue Sound on the other. Bordering towns include Pine Knoll Shores and Salter Path. Indian Beach NC does have a functioning government with a mayor, commissioners, boards, and departments. This coastal town does have a police force, fire department, and rescue and EMS services.

Indian Beach has a zip code of 28512, is located in the 252 area code, and is roughly 378 acres in area. The main road running through this town is Highway 58 which connects with all other towns on Bogue Banks.

This community is primarily a tourism area for people visiting and traveling to the Crystal Coast and has a good mixture of residential homes, resorts, and small hotels and motels. This community has some of the best seafood restaurants locally with ties to the commercial fishing industry.

Town officials take great pride in the local beaches and pay special attention to beach nourishment, rules and regulations around maintaing a pristine environment for local beaches, sand dunes, local waterways, and marine habitats.
