As an avid golfer and visiting the county for the first time, I was shocked to find that, while there are a few, this area does not seem to embrace golf courses like other beach towns do. Though, I hear your county is fixing to see rapid development with the Interstate I suspect that either existing courses will be built or the current one’s upgraded and expanded.
We did enjoy our trip to Morehead City and Atlantic Beach though.
I definitely recommend Star Hill in Cape Carteret even though it is a drive to get there if you are staying in Morehead City or Atlantic Beach, but for me it’s the best public course in Carteret County and is geared for golfers of all handicap. The pro on staff has an excellent history as well.
