Newport NC Man Arrested For Making False Bomb Threat To Town & Country IGA Grocery Store

March 15, 2020 – Newport Alleged False Bomb Threat Crime

Carteret County deputies have arrested Charles Hunt Jr., 40, of Newport NC for making a false bomb threat to the Town & Country IGA grocery store on Highway 24.

Allegedly, Charles Hunt was mad that the IGA was closed when he presented to the store, began banging on the doors, and demanding that they open. When confronted by the manager, Mr. Hunt allegedly threw a black box on the ground and said it was a bomb.

An investigation by deputies revealed it wasn’t a bomb. Mr. Hunt was charged with felony making a false bomb report and received a $1500 bond.
