Many local businesses in Carteret County, along with several residents and churches are putting together local efforts to help residents of Ocracoke Island after Dorian caused extensive flooding, wind damage, and storm surge that caused several people to become trapped in their homes.

Only hours after Dorian started moving away from Ocracoke, news started coming out that most of the island had many feet of standing water, beach erosion, and structural damage from the storm who’s eye passed very near the island.
